Spiced Yams with Streusel Topping
Yams are popular during the holidays- they’re sweet, have a desirable texture, and are easy to make.
Serves 6-8 Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees Prep Time: 1 hour Ingredients: 3 pounds of peeled, cooked yams ¼ cup of melted, unsalted butter ½ cup granulated sugar ½ cup brown sugar 2 tablespoon flour 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon Kosher or sea salt 1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper For the Streusel Topping 2 cups oats 3 tablespoons melted butter ¼ cup brown sugar ¼ cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon flour 1 cup chopped pecans ½ teaspoon Kosher or sea salt 1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper Directions Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish- set aside. Place the yams in a large mixing bowl. Add the remaining ingredients. Mix gently making sure not to break the potatoes. Place the potato mixture in the baking dish. Place all of the ingredients for the crumble topping in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Put the crumble topping over the potatoes and place in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
