Chocolate Dipped Strawberries Recipe
Valentine’s Day is coming up and you’re stumped. What should you get your significant other? Candy? A stuffed animal? Roses? All are good choices, but if you’re interested in making the gift special and personalized, make something from scratch. Chocolate dipped strawberries are the perfect gift- they’re easy to make, the berries are readily available during the winter season, and the process is easy. Take the time to make your special someone some homemade chocolate dipped strawberries and you’ll be sure to get a kiss at the end of the night!
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
- 2 pints of ripe strawberries
- 8 ounces of good quality dark, milk, or white chocolate
Rinse the strawberries, and set aside. The berries should be at room temperature when you get ready to dip them. Get a standard sized cookie sheet and cover it with aluminum foil- set aside. Coarsely chop the chocolate and put in a small soup bowl. Place in the microwave on high for 40 seconds to one minute. As the timer goes off on the microwave, remove the chocolate and stir. Continue doing this until the chocolate is fully melted and mixed. Do not cook the chocolate for too long or it will burn. The chocolate should be close to 98 degrees. If you don’t have a thermometer simply place a small amount of chocolate under your bottom lip- it should feel warm, not hot. Before dipping the strawberries make sure they are completely dry or the chocolate will not stick. Slowly dip the berries allowing the excess to drip back into the bowl of chocolate. Place the berries on the cookie sheet, then put in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. Serve and enjoy! If you want to stripe the berries with white chocolate, melt some in the microwave as per instructed above. Take a fork or spoon, place in the chocolate and wave above the berries letting the white chocolate streak them.
