Pasqualino’s Italian Eatery, Murrysville

It’s been a while since I’ve tried any new restaurants in Pittsburgh.  I’ve gone out to eat many times- I’ve just been dining at my regular spots.

My mom was recently at a place called Pasqualino’s in Murrysville.  I was at home, tired as usual from working when the phone rang, “Do you want some take-out?”  I was too tired to cook, so I accepted.

I rarely get food to-go, especially Italian (unless it’s pizza).  Lasagna sounded good, so I placed my order and waited.

A large brown paper bag arrived smelling good.   Large, soft rolls sat atop the lasagna container with 15 little packets of butter and shredded Parmesan. The whipped butter was the perfect accompaniment for the doughy, sweet bread.

The lasagna portion was large- I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish all of the food.

Upon my first bite, I noticed the clean taste of the red sauce; it wasn’t overly complicated with seasonings and extra ingredients.  It was some of the best sauce I’ve had in Pittsburgh- really.  The noodles were thin, fluffy, and not over-cooked.  The cheese mixture in the center was well seasoned, and delicious.

I ate half of the lasagna, and was pleasantly full, but not stuffed.

Pasqualino’s serves carefully prepared, traditional Italian food.  I haven’t been to the physical location yet, but will surely make my way there after sampling some of their excellent fare.
