There are times when you want to go out and get a bite, but aren’t interested in making a production out of it. Sometimes it’s nice to go to dinner and not have to worry about getting dressed up, making reservations, or worrying about understanding a complicated menu. Well, I have a suggestion for you- Foli’s Restaurant/Bar in Braddock Hills. My family and I have been going there for the past three years on Sunday evenings, and it’s a nice place to have dinner. Now, I’m not quite sure how many of you will be interested in going to a bar with your family for a Sunday meal, but let me assure you, it’s worth it. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere; there are always other families with their kids there. Also, since the new smoking laws have been implemented you can enjoy your meal without the odor and unpleasantness of burning tobacco.
The restaurant is small and quaint- nothing over-the-top here. The walls have murals painted on them, and there are a few left-over Christmas decorations still hanging around. Four booths adorn the far side of the restaurant, and there are seven additional tables with chairs for a seating capacity of approximately 50+ people. If you’re considering dining during the winter months bring a jacket, the thermostat is often below the freezing mark.
Foli’s has a great beer list. In addition to stocking the regular imports and exports, they also have many local beers on tap. If you’re interested in a mixed or blended drink, they can easily accommodate you. The wine selection is limited, but the stock collections are adequate.
Service is prompt and courteous. We’ve never had a problem, and our meals are always served in a timely manner.
Foli’s offers a wide variety of food. You can get a charbroiled burger, monster fish sandwich, or calzone. Also offered are grilled chicken salad, steak salad, and antipasto salads. Another specialty is their BLOTCH- bacon, lettuce, onion, tomato, cheese and ham sandwich- yum. Foli’s always has SOD (soup of the day), and their specialty is wedding soup. This particular soup is excellent and always served piping hot; be sure to add some fresh parmesan cheese! The French fries are fresh cut and cooked perfectly. You can add cheese if you’re feeling adventurous. They serve hot wings too- be sure to get extra bleu cheese and celery to help put the fire out! Of all the possible entrée choices, the best food served at Foli’s, in my opinion is the pizza. It may sound strange, but it’s true; they make an excellent pizza. The crust is chewy and sweet. The sauce is tangy, spicy, and has a hint of anise in it- delicious. There’s a wide variety of toppings, and most importantly, there’s always plenty of cheese….hot, bubbly cheese. If you haven’t tried the pizza at Foli’s, you’re definitely missing out.
With an average price of $10.00 to $15.00 per entrée, Foli’s is an affordable option. Take the family and enjoy some great food that this small, quaint restaurant has to offer; you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
