I was excited when I heard that Vanilla Pastry Studio was coming to Regent Square- baked goodies are my favorite. Vanilla is located in busy Regent Square, on bustling Braddock Avenue. The newly constructed building sits next to Typhoon; there’s plenty of parking in front of the store. The facade of the building is contemporary, and covered with large panes of glass. When I walked into Vanilla I was immediately received with the aromatic, sweet smell of cupcakes- yum.
Chef Chuck recently had some questions for me about eating gluten-free. As someone who has been happily living a life of gluten free-dom for over 7 years now, I was happy to give some helpful hints to Chef.
Even though I don’t believe in resolutions, I am going to try and stop eating gluten in the New Year. My sister and niece have celiac, so chances are, I may have some predisposition to the stuff myself.
I love Chef Chuck’s homemade mint chocolate chip cookies. I love these delicious, mouthwatering cookies because you can really taste the mint chocolate chips. The white chips are so good! Together those ingredients make Chef Chuck’s cookies the best!! I could live in a world of them, that’s how great, luscious, yummy, and awesome Chef Chuck’s cookies are.
Before I was a Chef, and when I was growing up, I enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen because it was therapeutic. I could lose myself- for a while at least, as I watched my Kitchen Aid mixer blend bread dough. The smells coming from the mixing bowl were intoxicating; the yeast was working, and the water and sugar were combining to make a small doughy combination that was actually alive. I would watch the dough rise, and place the loaf in the oven to cook.
Please be advised that Fede Pasta has posted a calendar on its homepage, and has several events coming up in the month of February. Pasta Classes, an Open House, and Valentine’s Day dinner will be offered. If you have a special event, or are interested in having the Chef design a small cooking class for you and your family or friends, please just ask!
