I’ve found my new favorite food. I was working a party, and my friend Steve Salvi, of Fede Pasta provided me with homemade pasta for my catering engagement. I had never tried Fede pasta before this weekend- it’s delicious.
Cibo, in Regent Square is the owned by Dino DeFlaviao. If you live in the east end, and don’t know who Dino is, you must not know the areas as well as you think. Prior to being Cibo, DeFlavio’s Pizza occupied the space that is now the new Italian restaurant. Cibo has only been open a few days, but so far the food has been received well by the East End crowd.
On the last day of her visit, my sister (who lives in Boston) suggested that we go to Lidia’s for brunch. Wait, Lidia’s in the Strip has brunch? They do indeed.
Please be advised that Fede Pasta has posted a calendar on its homepage, and has several events coming up in the month of February. If you have a special event, or are interested in having the Chef design a small cooking class for you and your family or friends, please just ask!

Do I put salt in the water, and if so, how much should I use? Does cold water boil faster than hot water? Should I put oil in the water? I’ll be able to tell that my pasta is done by throwing some at the wall- if it sticks, viola!
Thank goodness the Atkin’s Revolution is over, I was beginning to think that I was the only one left enjoying pasta. After everyone realized that starches (in moderation) provide the body with glucose (essential to fuel the body), pasta once again became popular. Enough about the nutritional benefits of Pasta, I’m here to talk about the best pasta in Pittsburgh; it’s being produced at Fede Pasta in Irwin, PA.
